Yes, Zimbabwe is on the DVLA designated countries list, meaning you can exchange your Zimbabwean licence for a UK one without taking a driving test — but there are important conditions. You can exchange a Class 4 (light motor vehicle) or Class 5 (motorcycle) licence. Class 2 (heavy vehicle) licences for trucks cannot be directly exchanged for a UK HGV licence — you would need to take the UK test. You must exchange within 5 years of becoming a UK resident. You will need to apply to the DVLA with form D1, your Zimbabwean licence, a passport photo, and the fee. DVLA may request a Certificate of Competency from Zimbabwe CVR (Central Vehicle Registry). Contact CVR at registrarcvr@gmail.com. Note: there have been issues with verification due to some fraudulent Zimbabwean licences — having a genuine licence with proper documentation speeds up the process.
