Repatriation costs are significant: transporting a body from the UK to Zimbabwe typically costs £3,000-7,000 or more, depending on the airline, embalming requirements, documentation, and funeral director fees. The process involves: obtaining a death certificate, post-mortem examination (if required by UK law), embalming by a licensed funeral director, obtaining a Certificate for the Removal of the Body out of England (Form 104) or equivalent, zinc-lined coffin meeting airline cargo requirements, coordinating with a funeral director in Zimbabwe for collection at the airport, and customs clearance through ZIMRA.
