UK Student Visa for Zimbabweans

The UK Student visa (formerly Tier 4) allows Zimbabweans to study at licensed UK institutions. Requirements: (1) UNCONDITIONAL OFFER from a Student sponsor licence holder; (2) CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) from the institution; (3) FINANCIAL EVIDENCE — must show funds for tuition fees (first year) plus living costs: £1,334/month if studying in London, £1,023/month outside London, for up to 9 months. So approximately £9,200-12,000 in living costs plus tuition. Funds must be held for 28 consecutive days; (4) ENGLISH LANGUAGE — IELTS (usually 6.0-7.0 depending on course), or institution's own test for certain providers; (5) ATAS certificate for some STEM postgraduate courses. WORK RIGHTS: Can work up to 20 hours/week during term time, full-time during holidays. GRADUATE VISA: After completing a UK degree, you can switch to the Graduate visa (2 years, 3 for PhD) which allows unrestricted work and is unsponsored. COSTS: Visa fee £490, IHS £776/year, plus biometrics. Tuition fees for international students: £12,000-38,000+ per year depending on course and institution. SCHOLARSHIPS: Chevening (fully funded, competitive), Commonwealth Scholarships, university-specific bursaries. Some Zimbabwe-specific scholarships exist through organisations like JIMAT and others.
