UK Visitor Visa for Zimbabweans

Last updated 8 March 2026

General information only, not immigration or legal advice. Rules and requirements change; check the relevant official source before acting.
The Standard Visitor visa allows Zimbabweans to visit the UK for tourism, family visits, business meetings, medical treatment, or short courses (up to 6 months). REQUIREMENTS: (1) GENUINE VISITOR — must convince the Entry Clearance Officer that you will leave the UK before the visa expires. Strong ties to Zimbabwe (employment, property, family) help demonstrate this. (2) FINANCIAL MEANS — must show sufficient funds for the trip (accommodation, travel, spending money). No fixed minimum but should be realistic for the length and nature of the visit. Alternatively, a UK-based host can provide a sponsorship letter with evidence of their own means. (3) ACCOMMODATION — details of where you will stay (hotel bookings, or host's address with invitation letter). (4) RETURN TICKET — while not strictly mandatory, having a return or onward booking strengthens the application. COSTS: £115 (6-month), £400 (2-year multi-entry), £553 (5-year), £1,011 (10-year). COMMON REFUSAL REASONS: insufficient evidence of ties to Zimbabwe; inadequate financial evidence; previous immigration violations; suspicion of intent to work or overstay; inconsistencies in application. TIPS: Apply 3 months before travel; provide bank statements (3-6 months); include employer letter; provide detailed itinerary; if visiting family, include their immigration status and invitation letter. Processing takes 3-6 weeks standard, 5 working days for priority service (extra fee).
