What are my employment rights as a Zimbabwean worker in the UK?

General information only, not legal advice. Rules and requirements change; check the relevant official source before acting.
Your employment rights in the UK depend on your immigration status, but all workers have certain basic protections. If you have the right to work (through a visa, ILR, or British citizenship), you are entitled to: the National Minimum Wage or National Living Wage (currently over £11 per hour for workers aged 21+), a written statement of employment terms, paid annual leave (at least 28 days per year including bank holidays for full-time workers), rest breaks during work, protection from unfair dismissal (after qualifying period), protection from discrimination based on race, religion, gender, disability, or other protected characteristics, and statutory sick pay if you are ill. Your employer cannot take your passport or documents. If you are being exploited or paid below minimum wage, you can report it to HMRC or contact ACAS (Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service) for free advice. Citizens Advice also provides free employment advice. Many Zimbabweans work in care, healthcare, hospitality, and logistics — know your rights regardless of your sector.
