The Zimbabwean diaspora in the USA is estimated at 100,000-250,000, concentrated in: Dallas-Fort Worth (one of the largest communities), Atlanta, Washington DC/Maryland/Virginia (DMV area), Houston, Minneapolis, Phoenix, and various other cities. Many arrived as students, skilled workers, or asylum seekers. The community is generally well-educated and professional. Organisations include: Zimbabwe-USA Business Forum, various alumni associations, and churches (which serve as primary community hubs). Challenges include: immigration status uncertainties (some have TPS — Temporary Protected Status), professional qualification recognition, maintaining cultural identity for American-born children, and the distance from home making it expensive to visit or attend funerals. Remittances from the USA are a significant source of foreign exchange for Zimbabwe.
