Zimbabwe operates a source-based tax system — income earned outside Zimbabwe is generally not taxed by Zimbabwe. If UK-resident earning only UK income, you typically have no Zimbabwean obligation. However, income from Zimbabwean sources (rental property, business profits, investment returns) may be taxable through ZIMRA. Capital gains on Zimbabwean property sales are also taxable. In the UK, declare all worldwide income to HMRC, including Zimbabwean rental or business income. The UK and Zimbabwe lack a comprehensive double taxation agreement, but unilateral relief may apply. Seek advice from an accountant familiar with cross-border issues. Keep records of all remittances, especially for property or business investment — both tax authorities may need explanations. Use formal banking channels to maintain documentation trails.
