The UK hosts the second-largest Zimbabwean diaspora in the world (after South Africa). The 2021 Census recorded 124,146 Zimbabwe-born residents in England and Wales, though community estimates including UK-born children of Zimbabwean descent range from 200,000 to 500,000. The community is diverse — Shona, Ndebele, white Zimbabweans, mixed-race, and other minorities — and spans multiple waves of migration: - First wave (post-1980): Predominantly white Zimbabweans leaving after independence - Second wave (1990-1997): Economic migrants during structural adjustment - Third wave (1998-present): Largest wave, driven by political and economic crisis.
