Finding the foods you grew up with does not require a trip back home. A growing network of Zimbabwean and Southern African online shops now delivers mealie meal, matemba, Mazoe, maheu, nyimo beans, madora, and dozens of other staples across the UK, often within 48 to 72 hours.
**What You Can Actually Buy in the UK**
The range available has expanded significantly. Zimbabwean diaspora shoppers can source most staples without leaving home:

**Practical Tips**
For fresh produce such as covo or fresh matemba where it exists, check local African and Caribbean markets — Brixton Market, Peckham, Smethwick, Lozells in Birmingham, and Chapeltown in Leeds all have African food traders. Larger Asda, Tesco, and Sainsbury's branches in areas with significant African communities sometimes stock mealie meal and dried fish.
For bulk buying, several retailers offer discounted pricing on larger quantities — particularly useful for mealie meal, which can be bought in 5kg or 10kg bags and stored long-term. Joining community Facebook groups and WhatsApp groups for Zimbabweans in your city is one of the most reliable ways to find out who is doing a food run from a cash-and-carry or bringing goods directly from Zimbabwe.
