Zimbabwean Passports from the UK: Renewal, New Applications, Appointments and Common Delays

For Zimbabweans living in the UK, passport services are handled exclusively by the Zimbabwe High Commission at Zimbabwe House, 429 Strand, London WC2R 0JR. The mission covers not just the UK but also Ireland and the Nordic countries. All passport-related business — renewals, new applications, lost passport replacements, and emergency travel documents — must be done in person at this office. There is no postal application option for the initial submission, as biometrics (fingerprints) must be captured on-site. ## Booking an Appointment The High Commission operates on an appointments-only basis. Walk-in visits are not accepted for passport services. To book, contact the embassy by phone on +44 20 7836 7755 or by email at zimlondon@zimfa.gov.zw. When emailing, include your full name, the service required, two or three preferred dates, and a contact number. Consular hours are typically 9am to 12:30pm, Monday to Friday. This is the stage that causes the most frustration for UK-based applicants. Officially quoted processing times are: - Standard: 6–8 weeks (some sources cite 3–6 months) - Express: 2–4 weeks - Emergency: 7 working days In practice, delays beyond these estimates are common. Applicants have reported waiting several months even for express applications.
