Nigeria Records 11 Billion Transactions but 26% of Adults Remain Financially Excluded
A CBN report highlights that despite Nigeria recording 11 billion financial transactions, 26% of Nigerian adults remain financially excluded as of 2026. Exclusion rates are significantly higher in rural areas at 37% and reach nearly 47% in northern Nigeria. The CBN has outlined infrastructure investment plans aimed at closing the gap and expanding digital financial access nationwide.
