ZCTU to report SMEDCO to ILO over labour rights abuses

The Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) has announced it will report the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Cooperative (SMEDCO) to the International Labour Organisation (ILO) over alleged flagrant rights abuses. The labour federation accuses SMEDCO of stifling staff who attempt to organise, despite the body's role in providing flexible financial assistance to local entrepreneurs. The complaint was announced around 13 March 2026.
